La Placita Olvera is located right across the street from Union Station and one block from Chinatown. It’s the host of many beautiful traditions held by the Latin Community. Olvera Street is the birthplace of the City of Los Angeles in 1781.
Since 1998 the Ecuadorian community in Los Angeles has been celebrating their Independence Day and this year they will celebrate their 200th anniversary (1809-2009) with activities (July 31st - August 10th)
The 11th Annual Parade start at 10:30am on Broadway & Olympic Blvd. going north on Broadway until Temple St. then Los Angeles St. ending at La Placita Olvera. The parade will have Car clubs, Dance Groups, Drill Teams, convertibles, Motorcycles, 24 Beauty Queens and various Businesses.
More than 10,000 Ecuadorians & 2500 Latinos from other countries will celebrate at La Placita Olvera with Ecuadorian Food, Ecuadorian Arts & Crafts, Ecuadorian musical groups, Commercial Products, lots of free gifts, Carnival Games and all type of exhibitors.
