THE OREGON POTTERS ASSOCIATION PRESENTS CERAMIC SHOWCASE 2008 THE 26TH ANNUAL SHOW AND SALE with special guest potters from Hokkaido, Japan WHO: 230 Oregon and SW Washington clay artists WHAT: Show and Sale of pottery, sculpture, garden art, home accessories and other works in clay in 152 booths. WHEN: April 25, 26 from 10am to 9pm and April 27 from 10 to 5. WHERE: The Oregon Convention Center - Exhibit Halls A & A1 777 NE Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Portland, OR FREE ADMISSION OPENING EVENTS - Friday evening, April 25 4:00 - 6:30 Demonstrations on the main stage by Hokkaido potters followed by a formal welcome. 6:30 - 7:00 Ceramic Showcase 2008 awards presentation. 7:00 - 9:00 Japanese Koto music HONORED GUESTS: 15 potters from Hokkaido, Japan, will be present to show the work of 24 Hokkaido Pottery Society members in a special gallery. SPECIAL FEATURES AND DISPLAYS: HIGH SCHOOL CERAMICS SHOW - The juried work of talented local students from 15 schools. DEMONSTRATIONS - Some of our esteemed members share technique and inspiration in three days of free workshops. SOGETSU IKEBANA SCHOOL - Flower arranging using vessels made by OPA members. EDUCATIONAL BOOTHS - Local schools will present information about their ceramics programs. GARDEN SPHERES for CLAY IN EDUCATION - Created and donated by the potters to raise funds for art education and scholarships. HANDS-ON CLAY AREAS - Room for folks of all ages to experiment with clay. Adults may try out potters’ wheels. SCULPTURE GARDEN - A new area of sculptural emphasis.
