Butterscotch Squares

1 1/2 sticks butter,
1 pound brown sugar,
2 2/3 cup flour,
2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder,
1/2 teaspoon salt,
3 eggs,
1 cup chocolate chips,
1/2 cup confectioners sugar (to sprinkle on top)

In large saucepan, melt butter. Remove from heat and blend in brown sugar. Let cool about 10 minutes. Sift together flour, baking powder and salt in separate bowl. When saucepan mixture has cooled, beat in eggs, one at a time. Gradually add flour mixture, then chocolate chips. Mix well. Bake in 13 x 9-inch pan at 350 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes.
